SEVEN goals and a clean sheet away from home in a potential banana skin FA Vase tie.

You’d think we’d be happy bunnies, wouldn’t you?

When is a 7-0 win not a good result?

Well, if ever that was the case, it was on Saturday at Newbury Forest.

It was a strange feeling heading home afterwards.

After such a big win, you should feel elated.

Instead, we all felt a bit flat.

Having watched your side win 7-0, you’d have expected to have witnessed a top-drawer performance.

Instead, it felt like we’d just stuttered over the line.

By David’s own admission in his programme notes for Saturday’s game at home to Fakenham, we’ve played better on three occasions this season and lost.

And aside from the last half-an-hour of the match, where the boys did finally start to play some football, it has to be said that, in my eyes at least, it was a bit of a disappointing performance.

Football can be a funny old game and this was the proof.

Still, on a positive note, we’re through to the next round and the club is £800 better off, so it can’t be all bad!

It was a goal-den day for the club on Saturday, with the under-21s winning 12-0 in their first-ever home match, against Frenford Senior.

Luke Barnard led the way with five goals, ably supported by a Brad Smith hat-trick and a Kieron Wales brace.

Sadly, the reserves were on the wrong end of another heavy scoreline, losing 6-0 at Colchester Athletic.

It’s back to league action on Saturday when we welcome Fakenham Town to the Bowl.

The visitors have had a difficult start to the season, both in terms of fixtures and results, but are a decent side and should provide us with another good test.

We then have a midweek date at Felixstowe and Walton United in the League Cup.

Hopefully the journey home from that one will prove slightly happier than it was this past weekend!

Come on you Seasiders!
