WIVENHOE B boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation from Colchester and District men’s division three with a 6-3 home victory over Colchester Lawn.

Spring Lane A, who suffered relegation to ladies’ division two, ended their division one campaign on a positive note with a 5-4 away win at Dedham A.

Wivenhoe’s hopes of taking the division two title were dashed by The Essex D after a 6-3 away defeat.

But The Essex D followed up that victory with a 7-2 away loss at a Colchester Lawn team who have been picking up form.

Colchester Lawn have now won their last two matches, after struggling with injuries and numerous 4-5 losses, ensuring that they stand a great chance of avoiding relegation with one more match to play.

In what was a crucial match in the battle to avoid relegation from division three, West Mersea came out on top against Spring Lane C, triumphing 6-3 at home.

Spring Lane C’s winless run this season stretched into their eighth and final match as they succumbed to a heavy 8-1 defeat at home to Colchester Officers’ Club A.

The Essex A powered their way to the mixed premier division title in ruthless fashion and extended their unbeaten run with a narrow 5-4 success away at Frinton A.

Dedham A wrapped up the division one title in fine style, securing a comfortable 7-2 away victory at Colchester Officers’ Club A.

Frinton B fell to a 6½-2½ home defeat against Lexden Hill.

For the away side, it was a fruitful week as they also earned a 6-3 home win over the Officers’ Club.

In division two, it was a week to forget for Colchester Lawn A.

They were forced to concede their fixture against Dedham B as they lacked enough fit players to form a team of four.

They also succumbed to a 7-2 defeat at home against Colchester Tennis Centre A.

It was a victory that leaves them on the verge of securing the division two title.

In division three, Spring Lane B boosted their title ambitions while simultaneously denting Frinton C’s survival hopes.

The home side ran out comfortable 7-2 winners.

The Essex C secured a comprehensive 8-1 victory at home to West Mersea A.

Dominant division four leaders, Lexden R&F B, continued their unbeaten run in spectacular fashion.

They secured an emphatic 8-1 home win against Colchester Officers’ Club B.
