David Wright made a winning start as Maldon and Tiptree manager.

His side secured a Ryman North 3-1 win at Phoenix Sports.

The home side took the lead when Chris Hill opened the scoring with a free header on 21 minutes with the Jammers appealing for offside.

After the break, Nnamdi Nwachuku should have put Maldon on level terms but his powerful shot was straight at the keeper.

Femi Akinwande, though, leveled the game on 62 minutes as he brushed off the challenge of a defender and shot into the net.

And with time running out a free-kick saw Kieran Monlouis receive the ball, beat three defenders, and smash home on 87 minutes.

Akinwande almost made it 3-1 but his effort crashed against the post.

Heybridge Swifts lost 2-1 against visiting Thamesmead Town.

After a goal-less first half it was the home side that took the lead.

Corey Davidson hit a brilliant free-kick into the top right-hand corner of the goal on 61 minutes.

But Thamesmead then levelled the match when Tyrus Gordon Young got the final touch on a Tommy Spillane free-kick ten minutes later.

Swifts were reduced to ten men when Josh Fagbohun was shown a red card.

And Town made their advantage count when Young headed against the post and the rebound fell to Richard Butler to slide home at the back post on 84 minutes.

Brightlingsea Regent got their season off to a winning start with a 2-1 success at Waltham Abbey.

But they had to come back from behind as the home side opened the scoring through Ryan Flack on eight minutes.

Regent powered back into the game on 27 minutes when Jake Turner fired home a free-kick from the edge of the D.

Lamell Howell, on his debut, then put the visitors in front on 71 minutes.

Keeper Andrew Plummer fired the ball upfield and it was controlled by Jake Gordon who layed it off to Howell who shot powerfully into the back of the net for the winner.

It was a losing start for Witham Town back down in Ryman North following their relegation last season.

They lost 2-1 at Redbridge.

Michael Ogboin opened the scoring for the home side on eight minutes from the penalty spot.

Ogboin then doubled their advantage ten minutes later.

John Watson gave Witham a chance when he pulled a goal back on 84 minutes.

Witham went in search of an equaliser but time ran out for the visitors.
