CLACTON faced Chelmsford twice in three days – once in the Eastern Handicap Cup and once in the Essex League.

Chelmsford had a four-goal head start on handicap in the cup match.

However, the Seasiders started strongly and soon pulled back two goals.

They then lost their concentration, allowing their opponents to get back in the match and restore their handicap advantage.

Clacton were not playing to their usual standard and, for much of the match, they were pushed hard.

It was not until halfway through the last quarter that they managed to recover the four-goal handicap.

Then, following a penalty, they took the lead which they kept until the final whistle. It gave them a 13-8 win on the night but a narrow 13-12 victory on handicap.

They are now into the cup final, where they will play either Cambridge or Norwich.
