FRINTON Lawn Tennis Club are helping to launch an inspirational new scheme being spearheaded by Judy Murray.

The British Lawn Tennis Association are working with Judy – the mum of former Wimbledon champion Andy – to promote Miss-Hits.

This is a nationwide drive to get girls between five and eight playing tennis.

The hourly sessions are fun-filled in an all-female environment, where girls can develop their co-ordination, get to know different tennis strokes and learn about the game through Miss-Hit characters.

It is a unique way of teaching tennis and includes music, dance routines, stickers, animated characters, tricks and team games.

The free App Miss-Hits can be downloaded and competitive games can be played at home.

The Miss-Hits coach at Frinton is Jill Felstead.

“I’m thrilled to be involved in this excellent scheme, to encourage more girls to play tennis,” said the experienced coach, who trained with Murray in the build-up to the Miss-Hits launch.

“Judy is on to a winner and in an informal and fun way, girls will be introduced to all the necessary skills and build friendships, too. The motto is friendship and fun.”

Miss-Hits sessions and a taster session will be run at Frinton Lawn Tennis Club throughout the school summer holidays, beginning on July 27.

They will be available at all local primary schools next term.
