COASTAL Storms Netball Academy took two young teams to the Colchester Rally, at Highwoods Sports Centre.

It was the girls’ first-ever match and their first tournament.

The Storms had two teams in action – Thunder and Lightning.

Both had nine matches – some of which were won and some lost.

However, overall, the teams made their coaches proud.

Head coach Faye Trigg said: “Our girls came up against clubs that are extremely competitive and have been around for ages.

“They all showed so much progression and are looking forward to next year.”

Awards were handed out, based on performances during the day.

These went to Tiana Lloyd and Eloise Worthy (players’ players), Tiana Lloyd and Ruby White (managers’ player) and Mia Wettners and Madalyn Robertson (sportswomen prize).

Meanwhile, Coastal Storms’ ladies’ team took part in their first-ever tournament. They competed in the Back to Netball Festival, run by England Netball, at Chelmer Valley School, in Chelmsford.

The team improved throughout the day and are already looking forward to their next competition.
