MILLERS Barn Golf Park’s seniors enjoyed a a well-deserved victory against Rivenhall Oaks, in the home leg of their annual Matchplay tournament.

Captain Jeff Cripps took the first tee alongside Tom Murphy, joined by Rivenhall Oaks captain David Field and Alan Hawkes.

Subsequent tees (Millers Barn first): Dennis Bruce and Peter Tester v Ron Rimell and Tom Ewin; Frank Warbey and Jack Carr v Dennis Crozier and Dennis Baker; Peter Thurlow and Dave Manard v Terry Ladkin and Bob Ellis; Alan Bacon and Steve Lennard v Doug Risdale and Tony Papple; Brian Bacon and Don Chaplin v Brian Aylen and Brian Van Dyke.

All six matches were very close and every hole was strongly contested.

At the turn, Millers Barn were just ahead, but the visitors managed to keep up the pressure until the end.

Results: Cripps and Murphy won four and three, Bruce and Tester won five and four, Warbey and Carr won three and two, Thurlow and Manard won five and four, Bacon and Lennard lost three and two and Bacon and Chaplin lost two and one.

Millers Barn are now looking forward to the return leg, to be played in September.
