CLACTON Golf Club entertained a team from Stoke-by-Nayland for the home leg of the clubs’ annual 36-hole Home and Away Challenge match.
The coastal team had lost by 16 holes on their travels and hoped to make home advantage count in the return at West Road.
They put in a valiant effort and while unable to win overall, did manage to reduce the deficit.
The Clacton team consisted of stand-in captain Derek Woodrow, Paul Otte, John Nicholson, Paul Kirk, Fred Warner, Terry Hewett, Brian Vasey, Andy Moore, Ian Neil, Gordon Pryke, Tony Chandler, John Moore, Perry Richards, Keith Buxton, Steve Dow and Martyn Penalver.
