CLACTON recovered from a sluggish start to run out clear 18-6 winners at Chelmsford, in their latest water polo Easter League match.

With a full side out, they were confident of victory but started poorly, with some uncharacteristic mistakes at the back.

This allowed Chelmsford to gain an early foothold, although by the end of the first quarter Clacton – despite being far from their best – were 4-3 ahead.

The Seasiders needed to up their game and that is exactly what they did.

For the rest of the match, they handed out a real lesson to their hosts, winning each of the next three quarters by a clear four goals.

The final score emphasised their superiority and showed that when they play well, no other teams in the league can match them.

The Seasiders travel to Basildon next to begin their Essex League campaign.

They expect a far higher standard of opposition.
