FC CLACTON boss David Coyle is expecting more twists and turns before the end of the season.

And he believes the scrap to avoid relegation could go down to the wire.

The Seasiders are fourth from bottom in the Thurlow Nunn League premier division but now just two points above Wivenhoe Town – who beat Mildenhall 2-0 – after losing 1-0 at home to Norwich United on Saturday.

Coyle believes his side need to win at least one of their remaining three games – and hopes those points come from this weekend’s fixture at Gorleston.

“We have to win at least one more game,” he said.

“I’m absolutely certain Wivenhoe will beat one or more of Whitton United, Ely and Thetford.

“That means that despite having the tougher run-in, we have to take three points from one of our remaining games.

“Wivenhoe aren’t going to give up and neither are we.

“There’s pressure on both of us and I just hope we can produce the goods on Saturday.

“That would alleviate some of the pressure and we need to produce one of our best performances of the season.”

Coyle believes other sides are also in the dogfight.

“Don’t discount Walsham-le-Willows, Thetford and Haverhill either,” he said.

“There are too many teams within four points of each other for it not to go the distance, especially with some of those teams playing each other.

“It’s exciting for neutrals, but not something I’m enjoying.

“With the points tally we have, we should be safe.

“We’ve won more games than any other team in the bottom six.

“But we’ve dropped points in too many other games.”
