SARAH Daobry-Jay can’t wait to get back in the ring – despite suffering defeat in her most recent bout.

The Thorpe boxer lost out against Michaela Taylor, at the Showground Showdown event, in Ipswich.

She was on the wrong end of a controversial judges’ decision, competing in a 61kg bout on behalf of Clacton’s Fight Fit Systems.

But she admitted “thoroughly enjoying” the experience and cannot wait to box again soon.

“A number of people felt my fight should have been a draw,” said the 41-year-old.

“They were surprised at the judges’ decision.

“However, Michaela was the better fighter on the night, in my opinion, and she clearly has more experienced.

“Nevertheless, I loved it and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

“It was a great fight against a great opponent.”

Personal trainer Daobry-Jay was taking part in only her second fight, having also competed at a charity event in Chelmsford, last March.

Her next challenge is a physique competition, at Hercules Olympia.

She then hopes to box again later in the year.

“I’m now training towards my first physique competition, in seven weeks’ time, along with my husband, Pere,” she said.

“So it’s back to the weight training for the time being, but I’m sure I’ll be stepping back into the ring sometime this year.”

Daobry-Jay, who lives in Landermere Road, impressed her coach during the bout in Ipswich.

Steven Anderson, from Fight Fit Systems, said: “Sarah fought hard, in front of a large opposition crown.

“However, unfortunately, a controversial judges’ decision on the night went against her.”
