DAVID Coyle admits there will be much more than just three points at stake when his FC Clacton side take on Diss Town in a huge relegation showdown on Saturday.

The Seasiders travel to Norfolk knowing a win will give their Thurlow Nunn League premier division survival hopes a massive boost – and virtually send the hosts down.

And boss Coyle has joked he could also be out of a job by next week, should his Clacton side claim a vital victory in Norfolk.

Coyle knows Diss very well – he works there for Tangerines manager Mark Reeve on the Football Education Programme, at Brewers Green Lane.

And to add further spice, the Clacton boss is also a former team-mate of Reeve, having played alongside him for Downham Town earlier in the season.

Coyle said: “I’ve already been told that I have to behave on Saturday if I want my job next week!

“Mark’s my boss and I work with him every day – after we’ve won, I think I’ll have to fill in my P45!

“I work in Diss and I know that they’re not a bottom-two team.

“They’re a mid-table team and their first 18 games is the reason they are where they are.”

Clacton are preparing for a pivotal Easter weekend which will go a long way to determining their fate this season.

They travel to play Diss on Saturday and then host fellow strugglers Wivenhoe Town at the Rush Green Bowl, on Easter Monday (kick-off 3pm).

The Seasiders, who are a point adrift of safety, will head into the weekend in confident mood after bagging back-to-back wins for the first time since September.

“We have two games now to put ourselves in a much healthier position,” added Coyle.

“But we are concentrating solely on the Diss game because it’s our next one.

“At this stage, the Wivenhoe game means absolutely nothing to us because we have to play against Diss first.

“The players are looking forward to this weekend, knowing that they have a chance to turn around what’s been a reasonably disappointing season.

“If we get six points, we’re looking at relative safety, I think, because we’re all playing each other.”

Utility man James Dunkley is unlikely to play against Diss because of a hamstring injury but could feature against Wivenhoe.
