STEVE Parkes has taken the reins as Clacton-on-Sea’s new club captain.

Chairman Bert Foster welcomed members to the club’s annual general meeting, where immediate past captain Tony Stevens invested 2015 captain Steve Parkes with his green captain’s jacket.

The new vice-captain is Nick Smith, the development director will be Tony Stevens, Terry McConnell was re-elected as finance director was and Steve Scott and Clayton Jeffries were elected to the golf and social committee.

Clacton’s ladies played the Grandmothers Competition, the winner was Jackie Bright with 33 stableford points.

In second place was Di Kedge with 31, on countback from Janet Hiller in third, on countback from Maxine Baker.

They also played their March Medal with Di Kedge taking top spot with a score of 93 from her 19 handicap, for a nett score of 74.

In second place was Mary Cole with 102-29-75 and Jennie Corbyn was third with 97-21-76.

The Juniors played their March stableford on Saturday morning, the winner was Josh Bethell with 34 points. In second place was Wilf Elliott with 32 and Max Smith was third on 27.

On a bright Sunday morning, the men played for the Levermore Claret Jug.

The 2015 winner was Garry Bolton who returned a score of 92-23-69, on countback from Craig James with 75-6-69.

Third place went to vice-captain Nick Smith on 88-18-70.

Seniors’ captain Joe Middleton took his team of Malcolm Taylor, Tony Burnside, John Kemp, Robin Routh, John Wacker, Ray Fage, Ray Crossfield, Laurie Farrugia, Dave Aylott, John Stuck, Stan Justice, Robert Gillespie, Derek Woodrow, John Willson and Dave Mills to Harwich & Dovercourt for the away part of the annual match.

Clacton lost the match 5-3.
