FRINTON’S Ottilie Robinson-Shaw has been selected for the British freestyle kayaking team, for 2015.
The 13-year-old is the youngest person to be selected and this year she will compete across the UK, as well as training in Europe in preparation for the European Championships.
She took up the sport a couple of years ago, after having her first kayaking lesson at Tendring Canoe Club.
“With freestyle kayaking, you can’t have any fear when you go into the stopper or roll under the fast-moving water,” said Ottilie (pictured).
“It does frighten many people, but I’ve always enjoyed being in water and, as a child, would row in the Walton backwaters and on Frinton beach.”
Ottilie trains at the Lee Valley Olympic White Water Centre.
