HELLO all.

This week’s jabberings are less of a column and more of a plea to the people of Clacton.

Your football club needs you.

We’re rapidly heading towards crunch time in our season, with just ten games left to lift ourselves out of the relegation zone.

Last weekend saw us, by all accounts, outplay Felixstowe and Walton United but come away on the wrong end of a 1-0 defeat.

With Wivenhoe picking up two points from their two games last week, that leaves us six points adrift of the Dragons with a game in hand.

We also have a huge Easter Monday meeting with Wivenhoe that could prove to be crucial in deciding our final position.

Before then, we have four consecutive home games to play, starting with a pair in the next week as we take on defending champions Hadleigh United and promotion hopefuls and local rivals Stanway Rovers.

Tough games, undoubtedly, but that means we have nothing to lose and can give the next couple of games a real good go.

That is where you, my fellow Clactonians, can help.

There was a time a few years ago when our Rush Green Bowl home was something of a fortress as large, noisy crowds made it a place that unsettled opponents and lifted our side.

In recent years, attendances have dwindled slightly and some of the noisier elements of our support have drifted away.

It’s no coincidence that results haven’t been so impressive, either.

But we can change that.

With four home games in March and seven of our last nine games at home, there are plenty of opportunities to get along to the Bowl and support the team.

So, this is the plea.

Whether you’re a regular, you’ve never been before, are an occasional casual or someone who’s not been for a while, get yourself over there on either Saturday afternoon or Tuesday evening.

We’re a friendly bunch (especially if you buy a programme!) so come along and let’s be the 12th man for the boys. Come on you Seasiders!
