THE Clacton and District League’s 2015 junior combination tournament saw success for the trio of Morgan Harvey, Chris Simson and Jordan Webb.

In the final, they triumphed 3-2 over Tom Wilkin, Woody Fitzpatrick and Maci Harvey.

Fittingly, the match went to a nail-biting decider between the top players, with Morgan Harvey (+1) edging it 11-7, 8-11, 11-4, 8-11, 11-5 against Wilkin (-3).

Webb played a vital role in the final, staying unbeaten in his two matches.

The first doubles was particularly poignant, with Morgan Harvey on opposite sides of the table to his younger sister, Maci.

It was a first tournament success for Harvey and Webb, but Simson became only the fifth player in the 30-year history of the tournament to win a junior combination trophy three times.

Both semi-finals were also tightly-fought affairs which went the distance.

In the first, Harvey’s side won 3-2 against Sam Hume, Harry Beezer and Liam Harris.

Simson stayed undefeated for the winners, as did Harris for losers.

In the second semi-final, Wilkin’s team faced Kelvin Olano, Jonathan Found and Kayleigh Stratford.

Fitzpatrick, for the winners, and Stratford, for the losers, stayed unbeaten.

However, it needed an 11-9, 14-16, 11-3, 12-14, 11-8 victory for Wilkin (0) over Brotherhood team-mate Olano (0) in the deciding tie to seal his side’s place in the final.

Final results: Chris Simson (+1) lost to Woody Fitzpatrick (-1) 11-13, 11-9, 11-8, 5-11, 7-11; Morgan Harvey/Jordan Webb (0) beat Tom Wilkin/Maci Harvey (0) 11-7, 12-10, 11-3; Webb (-1) beat Maci Harvey 7-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-7; Morgan Harvey/Simson (+1) lost to Wilkin/Fitzpatrick (-1) 7-11, 11-13, 11-8, 10-12; Morgan Harvey (+1) beat Wilkin (-3) 11-7, 8-11, 11-4, 8-11, 11-5.
