CLACTON and District Indoor Bowls Club’s ladies have celebrated more gala success.

They were victorious at the Iceni ladies’ gala, at Colchester Indoor Bowls Club.

There were two groups of 12 teams.

Clacton won all four of their group games before going on to win the final against Courtauld Halstead.

Clacton’s ladies have now finished their County League games, having also been knocked out of the national competitions.

Their last county game was against Falcon (Chelmsford) and they won overall by 22 points, 53-31.

The home team consisted of Audrey De’Ath, Iris Staples and Maureen Roberts, with Florence Coyne skipping, and they gained a big win of 36 points to 12.

The away team consisted of Pauline Swift, Tracy Baxter, Ann Smith and skip Carol Batchelor. They had a very close game, losing by two points.

The two friendly mixed matches played over the weekend were both won.

Clacton entertained Aveley, winning by 159 shots to 88.

The winning rink was rink four, prevailing by a staggering score of 42-6.

The team consisted of Tracy Kinton, Terry Dixon, Dave Bunce and Dennis Frizzell.

Bunce was thanked for standing in at the last minute, due to illness.

Clacton played at home to Dovercourt Bowling Club, winning by 119 points to 66.

The winning rink was rink two, which won their match 20-3.

The team consisted of Eileen Cudby, Dave Bexley and Pam Feaviour.

Meanwhile, in the men’s County League division one, Clacton beat Essex County by 141 shots to 98.
