CLACTON soared to their fourth straight victory thanks to a 3-0 success at Essex University.

The points took them to seventh at the halfway stage of the East Men’s League season.

The Seasiders had to ride their luck early in the division three south-east contest.

Man-of-the-match Michael Hook pulled off two great saves to keep the scores level, before Clacton found the net through a Russell Measor thunderbolt.

Within three minutes of the second half, Clacton doubled their lead when Rik Coleman stepped up to score a penalty, for his sixth of the season.

Nick Key then smashed in Clacton’s third and his sixth of the season to put the game beyond the hosts.

Tom Sinclair was dominant in midfield and unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.

At the back, Key and Kieron Parkes prevented the home side’s attempts on goal in the second half.

Stephen Moriarty linked up well with Elliot Steele, Coleman and Sam Hodge, with John Hambrook and Jamie Roberts supporting down the flanks.

On Saturday, Clacton play host to Phoenix (2pm).
