JAMES Taggart scooped two prestigious trophies on the opening day of Frinton Golf Club’s annual Golf Week.
The event began in beautiful sunshine and first up were the club’s men, doing battle for two silver trophies.
The Centenary Medal is a scratch competition for men with handicaps of 18 or less, while the new Philip Robinson Medal is the nett competition, generously donated by Philip to mark the end of his presidency at The Esplanade club.
Both trophies were won by Taggart, with a gross score of 72, nett 69.
In the Centenary Medal, Jason Nicholls came second, with a score of 74.
Kevin Smith was third, with 76.
In the Philip Robinson Medal, William Burns also scored a nett 69, but was awarded second place on countback.
Two players had nett 72 scores but third place went to Jim O’Donoghue, ahead of Martin Jenkins.
