JAMIE Reed has been crowned as Clacton Golf Club’s men’s club champion for 2014.

More than 150 competitors set out to win the prestigious silverware, which was first presented to the club in 1961 by the East Essex Gazette.

Reed returned gross scores of 70 and 77 for a total of 147.

In second place was Jon Hewett (77-73=150) and in third was Matt Baker (77-76=153).

In the handicap competition for the gold, silver and bronze trophies, the gold division Locke Trophy winner was past captain Peter Hewett, with a nett score of 73 and 74 for a total of 147.

The silver division Link-Bruce Trophy winner was Ray Fage (70&74=144).

The bronze division one Raybould Trophy winner was Brian Dunn (72&65=137) and in bronze division two the Petts Trophy winner was Lee Price (66&72=138).
