CLACTON Golf Club’s ladies suffered heartache in their Harris Bowl match at Chelmsford.

Despite playing well, they were pipped by three matches to two.

The Clacton team was captain Sonja Strutt, Denise Pink, Fiona Cope, Brenda Lord and Jennie Corbyn.

Their last Harris Cup match is away to Theydon Bois.

Meanwhile, Clacton’s ladies hosted their Mixed Open.

This 27-hole event was attended by 80 players from across the south of England.

The winning pair were Tony and Georgina Ford, representing Cuddington Golf Club, in Surrey.

In second place were Steve and Kerry Enever, from Diss Golf Club, and in third were Derek and Diane Thompson, representing Belhus Park and Mardyke Valley Golf Clubs, both in Essex.

In fourth place were Graham and Susan Drysdale, from Colne Valley.

Clacton captains Janet Smith and Tony Stevens presented the prizes.
