COLCHESTER United midfielder Alex Gilbey will be making an appearance at Frinton and Walton Youth Football Club’s annual fun day, on Saturday.

The 19-year-old started his career with the coastal club and is heading back to sign autographs and pose for photos.

U’s mascot Eddie the Eagle will also be making a splash at the fun day, which kicks-off at 11am on the Lady Nelson playing fields in Thorpe.

Frinton and Walton press secretary Chris Byland said: “It’s a great honour to have Colchester United standing alongside Frinton and Walton.

“Alex is a model player who we’re proud of here. His success shows players of all ages that with hard work, anything is possible.

“All our players work incredibly hard and we’re pleased we’re able to bring the community together to honour them every year.”

Other highlights will include live music from singer Tracey Moorhouse, bouncy castles, raffles, five-a-side fun matches and more.

The day is open to everyone and anyone wishing to offer raffle prizes or other support to the club should contact secretary Sarah Muckle on 07792 322698.
