THE chairman of a coastal football club believes plans that include a new pavilion, two stands and an all-weather pitch will be on a par with anything in Essex.

Scott Properties want to build 65 bungalows on the redundant Colchester Institute playing fields off Gainsford Avenue, in Clacton.

Part of the planning agreement could also include a new pavilion and stand for Holland FC, in addition to an all-weather surface and two training pitches that would be handed over to the community.

And Holland chairman Mark Sorrell believes that if the project gets the green light, it will become the jewel in the crown of Tendring sport.

“It’s a massive project that will be used by the whole community, not just ourselves,” he said.

“It’s for everyone to use and benefit from and it’ll be fantastic for the whole area and for Essex."
