CUBS and scouts showed off their footballing skills during a tournament at FC Clacton.

More than 90 players in 16 teams had a fantastic day at the Rush Green Bowl, on Saturday.

The winners of the cub competition were 1st Holland, who enjoyed an extra-time success against 1st and 2nd Parkeston.

They eventually won 5-2 and the trophy and medals were presented by former Clacton player, captain and assistant manager Sean Hillier, on behalf of the Chelsea FC Foundation.

The scout winners were 1st Clacton and the runners-up were 1st and 2nd Parkeston.

The final score was 2-1 and the trophy and medals were presented by Peter Perry, group scout leader from the 12th Clacton scouts.

In addition to the matches, there was a penalty competition run by the Chelsea FC Foundation.

There was also a guest appearance from Colchester United mascot Eddie the Eagle.

Organiser and scout leader Richard Moodey said: “A huge thank you to everyone at FC Clacton.

“The day went so well – much better than expected.

“The weather was kind and the pitches were perfect.”

Cub organiser Lynn Mayo added: “It was a great day played in a lovely atmosphere.”
