CLACTON A began the defence of their Windsor League title with a 10-0 victory at home to Parkeston.
There was not such a good start for Clacton B, though, as they went down 8-2 at Brightlingsea.
The club’s ladies also started their league season but all four teams lost their opening games.
Champions Clacton A lost 6-0 at home to Holland-on-Sea, Clacton B went down 4-2 at Parkeston, Clacton C were defeated 4-2 at home to Thorpe C and Clacton D lost 4-2 at Brightlingsea B.
In their first friendly, Clacton entertained Chadwell St Mary.
The rinks were shared three each but the home side came out on top, with a shot score of 102 to 92.
