CO-OWNER Stephen Andrews has admitted it was a “very easy decision” to appoint Glenn Eldridge as permanent FC Clacton manager.

Eldridge has been handed the job on a full-time basis after stepping in and impressing during the second half of last season.

The club’s former assistant took the reins shortly after Phil Yearling’s departure in early February and managed to keep them in the Thurlow Nunn League premier division, finishing 15th.

It showed real progress after last season’s rock-bottom position and the Seasiders ended with a win on Saturday, beating Thetford 2-1.

Now Eldridge (pictured right) has been appointed full-time and Andrews, who runs the club with chairman David Ballard, said: “Preparation for next season has already started and an early decision on who should be manager was vital.

“Glenn has been very loyal to the club, looking after our midweek under-18s and acting as assistant manager before taking the role on as interim manager.

“He’s done a good job, so confirming it as permanent was a very easy decision.”
