CLACTON’S Jason Levermore is gearing up for a quick-fire double appearance at two flagship tournaments.

After a scintillating 2013, which included victory in the PGA Fourball Championship, Levermore has his eyes set on success in The PGA and the European Tour’s competitions.

He will start with his debut in the Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship, where he will take part in the East regional qualifier, at South Herts, on May 7.

Should Levermore find his form and make it through the qualifying round, he will take his place among the finalists at the famous Blairgowrie for a shot at the £78,700 Peugeot-supported final from August 5 to 8.

“I’m really excited to get started,” he said.

“I’ve never played in the Glenmuir before but I know there will be a lot of good players there.

“It’s the flagship event for club professionals and I’d definitely like to win, although obviously the most important thing will be to focus on my own game and ensure I give the best performance I possibly can.

“Of course, doing well can help you get a place in the PGA Cup team for next year, too, which is an event I’ve always wanted to play in.”

Victory at South Herts would also provide a welcome confidence boost for the 34-year-old ahead of his fifth appearance in the BMW PGA Championship, at Wentworth, from May 20 to 25.

“I qualified this year as I finished fifth in the PGA play-offs last November,” said Levermore.

“I’ve played in the event a few times before and I absolutely love it.

“Last year I scored a hole-in-one on the Thursday morning and it felt amazing. I’ll never forget that moment.”

Levermore is head professional at Channels Golf Club.

Dad Stuart spent 20 years in the same position at Clacton Golf Club.
