FC CLACTON and BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT dropped vital points in their respective battles at either end of the Thurlow Nunn League table.

The Seasiders are still entrenched in the premier division relegation dogfight after succumbing to a 3-2 at Walsham-le-Willows.

The hosts were reduced to nine men after having two men sent off during a goal-less first half.

However, Clacton still failed to glean anything, despite scoring a couple of equalising goals through Jake Clowsley and Jake Plane.

Tom Holdstock also blazed a penalty over the bar.

Brightlingsea missed the chance to go second after being held to a 0-0 draw at relegation-threatened Diss.

Overnight leaders Felixstowe & Walton lost 1-0 at Norwich United so Hadleigh United are now back in the driving seat, after recording a crucial 2-1 victory at CRC.

Gorleston are still in the mix after a 4-0 win at home to basement boys Woodbridge.

Regent stay third on goal difference, three points behind Hadleigh and one behind Felixstowe.

Crucially, though, they have a game in hand on the pair above them.

Elsewhere, STANWAY ROVERS celebrated a 1-0 victory at home to Ely, thanks to Jamie Beecham’s goal.

Tyler Rogers and Ben Parkin were on target as WIVENHOE TOWN – now certain to finish in the bottom three - led twice but ended up drawing 2-2 at Newmarket.

It was the final weekend of fixtures in division one.

HALSTEAD TOWN finished sixth after losing 2-0 at Fakenham.

BRAINTREE TOWN RESERVES ended up ninth after winning by the same score at Team Bury.
