CLACTON Rugby Club are setting their sights on a “massive prize” – promotion to the highest level in their history.

The Seasiders are just one victory from the uncharted waters of London League rugby, ahead of this weekend’s play-off at Newmarket.

Clacton booked their place by finishing second in Essex League division one, behind champions Billericay.

Now they are preparing for a showdown against the Eastern Counties League division one runners-up on Saturday afternoon.

Clacton have already made history after securing their highest-ever league finish.

Joint-skipper Ben Buxey now wants his side to finish the job and gain promotion.

“We’ve got every chance and it’s a massive prize – for the players and the club in general, to move up to a level we’ve never competed at before,” said the 35-year-old.
