CLACTON golfers played their opening Gold Leaf competition of 2014.
The Ward Salver, presented to the club by Dudley Ward in 1976, is a foursomes competition more commonly know as the Gruesome Twosomes.
It was won by Steve Hunt and Chris Morgan, who returned what could prove a record score of 78-14-64.
In second were vice-captain Tony Stevens and Martin Suen, with 86-17-69, and in third were Keith Buxton and Tony Chandler, with 77-7-70.
