FC CLACTON midfielder Louie Newland believes his side are in a false position near the foot of the Thurlow Nunn League table.
And with games in hand and a run of home matches coming up, he hopes his side can prove him right by making strides up the premier division table.
The fourth-from-bottom Seasiders are back at the Rush Green Bowl on Saturday, for a proverbial six-pointer against the side directly below them – Ely City.
Newland admits the contest is “massive” and insists his side are better than their lowly position suggests.
“These are the matches that are going to decide whether we stay up or go down,” said Newland, a star performer in last Tuesday’s victory at Wivenhoe Town and again in Saturday’s 4-0 defeat by runaway leaders Hadleigh United.
“But I honestly feel we’re better than the other sides near the bottom.
“Hopefully we can prove that we shouldn’t really be down there."
