Clacton and Frinton Gazette: Regent switch their attention back to the Thurlow Nunn League Regent switch their attention back to the Thurlow Nunn League

BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent must put their FA Vase adventure on the back-burner tonight when they entertain Thetford in the Thurlow Nunn League.

The Tendring side were left disappointed when their last-16 Vase tie at Dunston UTS was postponed on Friday morning.

It has now been rescheduled for next weekend.

However, before switching their attention back to that competition and a potential trip to Wembley, James Webster’s promotion-chasing side have an important premier division fixture at North Road.

Regent, who have applied for promotion, are fifth in the table and 19 points behind runaway leaders Hadleigh United.

However, they have no less than seven games in hand on the Suffolk side.

And Webster’s side are on a roll, having only lost twice all season and won their last four.

In-form striker Scott Yearling has netted in the last three fixtures, against Norwich United, Brantham Athletic and Ely City.

And he believes his side have given a “real signal of intent”.

“They were three very tough games and yet we managed to put nine points on the board,” said the front man.

“It was a real statement of intent and the confidence is building and building all the time.”

After tonight, Yearling says he and his team-mates will enjoy focusing on Dunston again.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.

“There will be a few nerves when we get up there, because it’s a totally new experience, but the main emotion is excitement.

“We’ve got to go there with no fear, with the attitude that we can win.

“If we have belief and try and impose ourselves, there’s nothing to say we can’t go there and get a result.”
