CLACTON Men’s League held their competitions week.
First up were the divisional finals and the over-50s contest.
The two players that battled hardest to win through in the latter were Ray Spurden (Coconuts) and Eric Holmes (North End). In the divisional finals, in the Tom Mead Trophy, defending champions for the past two years The Walkers lost 5-2 to the Silver Dawn.
In the Stan Berry Cup, league leaders Snooker Social ran out 8-5 winners against last year’s winners, the Fusiliers. In the John Rowe Trophy, Oakmead Topcats were 5-0 winners against Comrade Colne Road.
Wednesday saw the second round of the Fred Austin Cup.
With two teams failing to turn up, there were two byes on the night and these went to Black Arrows Two and the Fusiliers.
They will be joined in the third round, on March 5, by Muppets, Troubador, Elise, Blacksmith Arms, Silver Dawn and Snooker Social.
