CLACTON powerlifter Cliff Haynes has gained another British crown.
And the 53-year-old was part of a four-man team from Essex that all secured silverware at the British Bench Press Championships, in Lincolnshire.
Haynes, of Selsey Avenue, started comfortably with a 170kg lift, in the 74kg Masters Two category.
He then managed 180kg to equal the British record before a third and final attempt of 190kg.
He was unsuccessful, due to his foot slipping, but still did enough to win his category overall.
