BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent have found themselves in the glare of the national media spotlight.

The Thurlow Nunn League club are busy preparing for tomorrow's huge FA Vase fourth-round tie at home to Bodmin Town, from Cornwall.

And one story has captured the attention of both the national press and radio.

It concerns the club's new 107-seater stand, bought on eBay, and transported to north Essex from the Isle of Wight.

The stand has only been used once before, for a tennis tournament, and will be in place for tomorrow's tie.

It is thought to have cost around £5,500.

The story was first reported in the Gazette but has now been picked up by BBC Essex, BBC Radio 5 Live, TalkSport and the national press, who have been busy interviewing Regent chairman Terry Doherty and manager James Webster.

"It's been crazy and great for the club," said Webster.

Meanwhile, the club are very confident tomorrow's game will go ahead as planned, despite heavy rain overnight and this morning.

Webster said: "The game will be on.

"The pitch is very wet but playable and we still have another 24 hours."

Bodmin are thought to have started their 350-mile journey from Cornwall.

They are staying overnight near Brightlingsea.

Meanwhile, Brantham Athletic's Vase tie at Sussex side East Preston has been postponed, after the pitch failed a 12.30pm inspection.
