NEW manager Phil Yearling was within touching distance of a dramatic victory in his first game in charge of FC Clacton.

Instead, he had to be content with a share of the spoils as his side drew 3-3 at Thurlow Nunn League premier division rivals Felixstowe and Walton.

Clacton led 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 and grabbed their final goal – what looked destined to be a winner – in the 90th minute.

However, Felixstowe attacked again and salvaged a point with their third equaliser, two minutes into stoppage time.

The match, which went ahead after a mid-morning pitch inspection, was Yearling’s first game in charge, after being appointed on Thursday night.

He replaces Ray Turner, who had resigned the previous Friday.

And Clacton’s new boss enjoyed a dream start, thanks to a third-minute opener from top-scorer Aaron Condon.

The striker turned and fired a low, left-footed effort into the bottom corner after fantastic work by Lee Clowsley.

The Suffolk Seasiders restored parity midway through the first half but Condon netted his second shortly before the break, rounding the home keeper after latching on to a clearance by James Gregory.

Felixstowe equalised again eight minutes from time, before having a man sent-off for violent conduct.

Clacton then scored what they thought was a dramatic winner, following Billy Wales’ cool finish on 90 minutes.

But Felixstowe had one last roll of the dice and scored again – the final act of a thrilling contest.
