FRIDAY'S Tendring derby between FC Clacton and Brightlingsea Regent has been postponed, due to a waterlogged pitch at the Rush Green Bowl.

The Thurlow Nunn League premier division contest was already in huge doubt due to this week's wet weather and overnight rain made the soggy surface unplayable.

The call-off was officially made after an 11am inspection.

It is a blow to both clubs and their supporters, as both were looking forward to locking horns in front of a big crowd.

They will now have to try again when the match is rearranged in the New Year.

Both sides play their next games on January 4, when Clacton visit Felixstowe and Walton and Regent host Haverhill Rovers.
