AARON Condon is back at FC Clacton.
And the striker – the club’s 15-goal top-scorer who quit for Maldon and Tiptree in mid-October – made a surprise comeback in Tuesday’s friendly against Halstead Town.
His appearance in a Seasiders shirt raised eyebrows and afterwards he confirmed that he is returning to the Rush Green Bowl.
He said he had no regrets about joining Maldon, but that he needs to play games and enjoy his football – and that there is nowhere better to do that than at home-town club Clacton.
“There were great things about being a Maldon player, like the facilities and the fact it’s Ryman League football,” said Condon.
“But if you’re not enjoying it and getting minutes on the pitch, those things become irrelevant.
“The grass isn’t always greener and I’ve been reflecting on that in the last few weeks.
“I don’t regret my decision to go but the bottom line is that I want to play so much.
“And when I walked in the other night and saw all the lads again, I knew I’d done the right thing."
