FC Clacton boss Turner snaps up hot prospect

FC CLACTON boss Ray Turner believes he has snapped up a “hot prospect” in signing Ryan Taylor.

The 19-year-old striker, who was formerly with Thurlow Nunn League premier division rivals Stanway Rovers, has linked up with the Seasiders.

Taylor, who was prolific at reserve-team and under-18 level at the Hawthorns, scored against Clacton for Stanway last season.

And after bringing the skilful forward to the Rush Green Bowl, Turner says the teenager will add a great deal to his squad.

Turner said: “I’m really pleased with the signing of Ryan and I rate him as a really hot prospect.

“I’ve watched him a lot at under-18 level and when he was at Stanway Rovers. “He broke into their first team and scored against us last season.

“I’ve spoken to many people on the non-league circuit about him, who rate him very highly.

“Ryan’s a bit of an all-rounder.

“He’s technically very good – he can hold the ball up, run the channels and he’s very sharp.

“And if he can get in and around the box he will shoot – he wants to score goals.

“He needs to knuckle down and play consistent games but hopefully, we can get him playing every week.”

Clacton head to Haverhill Rovers on Saturday, hoping to extend their three-match unbeaten sequence.
