Champions are too strong in their final game
CHAMPIONS Clacton finished their Essex League campaign with a 12-6 success at Basildon.
With the title already under their belt, they were determined to continue their 100 per cent record.
And on the day, the champions were simply too strong for their hosts.
With defenders James Fry and Ian Westlake aiding Mick Eastman in goal, it set up their forwards to play some fine water polo.
Robert Eastman, Neil Coles and Adrian Westlake combined well up front to move Clacton ahead.
Basildon kept fighting, but the visitors consistently scored two goals for every one netted by the home side.
The final score was a fair reflection of the difference between the two sides, but the Seasiders could have made it even more comprehensive if they had scored all the many chances they made.
