Condon: the time was right to test myself in Ryman League
AARON Condon wants to prove a point to himself, after joining Maldon and Tiptree.
The striker officially completed his move from FC Clacton – where he scored 15 goals this season – to Park Drive on Friday.
He made one last appearance for the Seasiders on Saturday – winning and then converting a penalty in their 2-2 draw against Haverhill Rovers – before making his Maldon debut in Tuesday’s Ryman League division one north match at Redbridge.
He was named in the starting line-up for his new club’s 0-0 draw at Oakfield.
And the 23-year-old is looking forward to stepping up a level, having already proved himself in the Thurlow Nunn League.
“This seemed the right time to try and test myself in the Ryman League,” said Condon. “I want to show my potential and prove to myself I can play at a higher level.
“I’m really looking forward to the challenge.
“It wasn’t an easy decision.
“I had a lot to think about and weigh up but I was impressed with (Maldon manager) Terry Spillane.
“He came across really well and seemed very genuine.”
