Carter and Davies set to open accounts at Indian Open
ALI Carter and Alex Davies are set to open their accounts at the Indian Open today.
The north Essex pair are both in first-round action this morning, with Colchester-born Carter up against Rod Lawler and Clacton’s Davies taking on Irishman Fergal O’Brien.
Carter, who had surgery for testicular cancer earlier this year, will be hoping to make progress and set up a showdown against world number one Neil Robertson.
The Australian is already safely through to the second round after seeing off Noppon Saengkham 4-1.
Davies, meanwhile, faces a tricky match against the experienced O’Brien.
The winner will play either Barry Hawkins or Anthony McGill.
The Indian Open, taking place in Delhi, is governing body World Snooker’s first-ever ranking tournament in India.
