Holland Shore youngsters display their skills
HOLLAND Shore ABC began their second season in style.
Three youngsters were involved in skills bouts, another three were victorious in contests and two won Essex ABA Novice Championships.
First in action was Jaywick’s Arnie Dawson, in Barking.
He showed steady improvement by controlling his skills contest against gritty Hornchurch opponent Oliver Adams.
Shaun Mannix extended his winning run by gaining a unanimous decision against Chelmsford’s Mitchel Chittock.
The last bout of the night, over four tough two-minute rounds, saw middleweight Davis Pagan take a unanimous decision over Barking’s Jetnor Pjetri.
Moving on to a five-star show at Harold Hill, William Dragisic started his career with a skills contest against Burton Park’s Tony Squires.
Both boys showed good potential, with fine footwork and sharp hand-speed.
Dragisic then got on top and controlled a lively third round, with Squires trying harder but not able to contend with a steady stream of punches from the Holland Shore ace.
Twin brother Oliver Dragisic was in action at the Essex Novice Championships, at Harlow.
He had his third skills bout against Canvey’s Sonny Walker.
The first round saw two evenly-matched youngsters showing their skills.
The second saw both boys getting more involved, mixing up shots from both head to body.
Both upped their work-rate with fine combination punching to finish a good skills contest.
Damian Pagan won the Essex novice welterweight title, outpointing Mayland’s Jack Martin.
The first round began at a high work-rate.
The second continued with both boys trying to gain control – Martin with long, slashing punches and Pagan with sharp controlled punching.
With everything up for grabs in the third, both boys gave their all as they traded blows in the ring centre.
Pagan finished the stronger to win a majority points decision.
Also winning an Essex title was Holland Shore’s Lewis Adams, who took the featherweight title on a walkover.
