Turner: my players are relishing their FA Cup adventure
FC CLACTON boss Ray Turner says he and his players are savouring their FA Cup adventure.
The Seasiders face a second qualifying round replay at North Greenford United tonight, after the sides drew 1-1 on Saturday.
The winners have been drawn away to either Canvey Island or St Neots Town.
And Turner says occasions such as tonight are to be enjoyed.
“As a non-league player, you don’t get many bigger days,” he said.
“Some of them won’t ever experience a tie like this again.
“If we win, we’re two games away from the first-round proper and being in the hat with teams like Wolves and Sheffield United.
“It sounds stupid but that’s the reality of the situation and the players deserve it.”
Turner admits tonight’s replay represents a major challenge but feels sure his players can rise to it.
In addition to the carrot of progressing to the third qualifying round, they also stand to pocket £4,500.
“It’ll be a big test for our young players, but we’ve got to go there and be switched on mentally,” said the striker.
“We’ll have a chat about what we can do better tactically and how we can get at them a bit more.
“I’ve got a few ideas.”
Clacton welcome back top-scorer Aaron Condon, who was suspended for Saturday’s tie.
The front man has already plundered eight goals in the Seasiders’ FA Cup running, including five across two games in the previous round against Brentwood.
“Aaron’s on fire at the moment, scoring lots of goals, so it’s a real positive to have someone like that to come back into the team,” added Turner.
