Kovacic takes the top spot in triathlon
HARDY competitors rose to the challenge during another very successful Clacton Triathlon.
The prestigious event took place last weekend, at Holland Haven.
A few athletes used it as a warm-up for the World Championships, which started yesterday, in London, and will finish on Sunday.
Among them was last weekend’s male winner, Jaroslav Kovacic, who is competing in the Age Group World Championships.
David Hargreaves, who competed in the sprint on Saturday, is racing in tomorrow’s World Age Group Sprint Distance Championship race, in the 60+ category.
Hargreaves, originally from Clacton, will be competing for the Great Britain team.
Overall, entries for all races were higher than in the last few years, with each of the races being a Triathlon England Eastern Region event.
The children’s races were part of the Eastern Region League, the sprint part of the Eastern Region Cross League, for events with a cross-country element, and the Sunday event was the Eastern Region Championship Race.
“The weekend went really well, with weather staying good and all the races going smoothly,” said co-organiser Jonathan Martin.
