Spitfire Trophy success for Moore and Sampson

THERE was a home success when Clacton Golf Club staged their Battle of Britain Open Golf Day.
Players competed in two rounds, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
And with both scores added together, the winners of the Battle of Britain Spitfire Trophy were Clacton’s Lee Moore and Keith Sampson, with 85 points.
In second were Alan Middle and Ian Bedford, from Seckford Hall, with 82, on countback from third-placed Ross Christie and Alan Keyte, from Brett Vale, with 82.
In the morning round, playing for the Bob Close Challenge Cup, the winners were Colchester Golf Club duo Stewart Sharman and Stuart Watson, with 44 points.
In second were Jason Ranson, from Clacton, and Arron Collins, from The Essex, with 43.
After lunch, playing for the Blenheim Trophy, the winners were Brett Vale’s Joe Hanlon and Jason Rea, with 43 points. In second were Bob and James Hanks, from Clacton, with 42.
