FC CLACTON’S Adam Daniels believes defeat in one knockout competition can inspire his side in another this weekend.

The Seasiders return to FA Cup action and are preparing for a first-round qualifying appointment at Ryman League outfit Brentwood Town.

Saturday’s tie comes a week after their FA Vase elimination at Bowers and Pitsea, where they missed chances and contrived to lose 2-1.

However, Daniels – who scored his side’s goal – insists the mood is still positive and says last week’s setback will spur his team on at the Brentwood Centre Arena (kick-off 3pm).

“The Vase is gone now and there’s nothing we can do about it, but we’d love to keep our run going in the FA Cup,” said the defender or striker, who made his debut for the club – then Clacton Town – in the 2004/05 season.

“It’s such a great competition and our two matches so far have been a real breath of fresh air.

“It gets everyone talking and hopefully we can cause an upset on Saturday.

“I can definitely see that happening."
