Frinton celebrate as top spot confirmed
FRINTON’S cricketers have been crowned top dogs in the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship.
Mark Jones’ side clinched the division one title after beating fourth-placed Mildenhall by 34 runs in an exciting contest at Ashlyns Road on Saturday.
Frinton will now take part in a play-off game to earn the right to play in next season’s Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League.
Skipper Jones said: “We’ve won this title on the back of some great bowling performances.
“Adam Milne was outstanding and his replacement, Brandon Viret, is also top drawer.
“We’ve three of the league’s top six most economical bowlers in Milne, Ian Morton and Michael Armstrong.
“We’ve strangled opponents up front and with class spinners like Russell Stockdale and Tom Lawes, we have the depth too.
“Ted Moulton will also never let us down when asked to bowl.
“It’s time for a party but we have one eye on the play-off game on September 15, at Ashlyns Road.”
