Turner: I can trust this group of players

FC CLACTON manager Ray Turner says he has assembled a group of players he can “trust and depend on”.

And he believes the bond and spirit within his squad could be vital as the club look to finish their season with a flourish.

The Seasiders are still bottom of the Thurlow Nunn League premier division but notched their third victory of the season – and first since November – by beating Wivenhoe Town 2-1 last Saturday.

It extended their unbeaten run to three games and they will be looking to put more points on the board when they visit the team directly above them – Thetford – this weekend (kick-off 3pm).

“It’s been frustrating and quite a transition, in terms of players coming and going and the boys getting used to the way I want them to play,” said Turner, who this week bolstered his squad by signing Tom Moore from Wivenhoe.

“But I now know I’ve got a group I can trust and depend on.

“Another victory had been coming for weeks and the atmosphere and team spirit is fantastic.

“There’s a great feeling around the club and I’d like to thank everyone for the part they’ve played.

“Everyone has been patient and hopefully they can see we’re trying to build and do things the right way and that we’re definitely making progress.

“The foundations have been laid but now we’ve got to build on this momentum and move forward.”
