Hughes signing is a real signal of intent

CLACTON Cricket Club have pulled off a coup by signing the brother of an Australian Test star.

Top-order batsman Jason Hughes has agreed to join and will play for the Seasiders in this season’s Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League campaign.

His brother, Phil, is an Australian Test batsman and likely to face England in this year’s Ashes double-header.

“This is a very exciting signing for us and a real signal of our intent,” said Clacton chairman Pierre Oxley, who also confirmed that his club are on the verge of signing South African all-rounder James Johnson.
